How to move your family calendar off Cozi. What comes with you, and what does not.

Last updated 7 October 2026.

Cozi has no export button. What it has is a calendar link, and it lives on the website, not in the app. With that link, your calendar moves in about ten minutes. Your lists and recipes do not move at all, and we will get to that too.

We make Homie, a family organizer, so the last part of this page is about bringing your calendar into it. Everything before that works for any destination, Google Calendar included.

What you can take with you, and what you cannot

Worth knowing before you start, so nobody spends an evening looking for a button that is not there.

In CoziWhat happens
Calendar events (titles, dates, times, repeats)Yes, through a link. One link for the whole family, or one per person.
Who an event belongs toOnly if you export one link per person. The link for everyone has no names in it.
Shopping listsNo. Cozi has no export for lists. You retype them (about five minutes, see below).
To-do listsNo. Same as shopping.
RecipesNo export. If a recipe came from a website, Homie can import it from that address instead.
Family journalNo. Screenshot anything you want to keep.
ContactsNo. Cozi removed its contacts export in December 2020.

Step 1: get your Cozi calendar link

This only exists on the website. The app has a screen called Internet Calendar, which looks like the one you want and does the opposite: it pulls other calendars into Cozi, not out of it.

  1. 1.Open my.cozi.com in a browser and sign in.
  2. 2.Go to Settings, then Shared Cozi Calendars.
  3. 3.Tick the calendars you want. One link for the whole family, or one per person.
  4. 4.Choose "View or send Cozi URL" and copy the link.

One link or one per person? If you want each family member's events to land on their own calendar in the new app, make one link per person and import them one at a time. If you just want everything in one place, one link for everyone is fine.

Treat the link like a password. Anyone who has it can read that calendar without signing in to anything.

As far as we can tell, the link is available on the free plan. It is not listed as a Gold feature anywhere on Cozi's site. If you hit an upgrade prompt, tell us and we will update this page.

Step 2: bring it into Homie

Homie takes the link as it is. No file to download, no webcal to rename. (If you do want a file as well, there is a section on that further down.)

  1. 1.Open Manage calendars. In Homie, open the calendar, then Calendar settings, then Manage calendars, and add a calendar.
  2. 2.Choose "Import from web/URL". Paste the Cozi link. It starts with webcal:// or https://, and either works.
  3. 3.Pick Copy, not Linked. Copy brings the events into Homie as normal events you can edit, move and delete. That is the one for leaving Cozi. Linked keeps a read-only view that updates from Cozi, which is useful if you want to run both for a couple of weeks first (more on that below).
  4. 4.Pick where the events go. A family member's calendar, an existing shared calendar, or a new one. If you made one link per person in step 1, import each link into that person's calendar.
  5. 5.Pick a time range. Future only, the last 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, or everything. Homie shows how many events sit in each range before you commit, which is also the quickest way to see what Cozi actually put in the link.
  6. 6.Copy the events. A progress bar sits at the bottom of the calendar until it is done. A few hundred events take a minute or two.

Weekly, monthly and yearly repeats arrive as one repeating event, not a pile of copies. So the swimming lesson is still the swimming lesson, and you can skip next Tuesday's without touching the rest.

Should I run Cozi and Homie side by side first?

If the family is not sure yet, yes. Add the Cozi link as a Linked calendar first. It refreshes on its own, so anything added in Cozi over the next two weeks shows up in Homie too, read-only. When everyone has stopped opening Cozi, do the one-time Copy, remove the linked calendar, and cancel.

Do it in that order. If you copy first and link second, the same events show up twice. Homie warns you when that is about to happen, but it is easier to avoid than to undo.

Want a file as well?

Paste the Cozi link into your browser's address bar. If it starts with webcal://, change that to https://. The browser downloads an .ics file. That file is your calendar, in a format every calendar app reads, and it is yours to keep whatever you do next. Save a copy before you delete anything.

Google Calendar takes it under Settings, then Import & export. Apple Calendar takes it under File, then Import. Outlook takes it under File, then Open & Export.

Homie takes the link rather than the file, so do this for the backup or for Google, not for the Homie step above.

Step 3: the lists Cozi will not give you

There is no export for shopping lists, to-dos or recipes. No file, no link, no button. We are not going to pretend otherwise, and we are not going to have an AI read them off a screenshot either. You retype them. Here is the fastest order to do it in.

  1. 1.Shopping list first. Open the list in Cozi on one device and Homie on another, or split the screen. In Homie, open the shopping list, tap Add items, and type one item per line. Quantities can wait. A 40-item list takes about four minutes.
  2. 2.Then to-dos. Same move. Add many at once, one task per line. Only carry over what is still true. A move is a good excuse to drop the ones from March.
  3. 3.Then recipes. If a recipe came from a website, paste the address into Homie's Import from URL and it pulls in the ingredients and steps. If you typed it into Cozi yourself, copy the ingredients into Homie's bulk-add box and the steps into the other one. Bullets, step numbers and headings get tidied up on paste.
  4. 4.The journal is screenshots. There is nowhere in Homie for it, and that is fine. Save the ones you want to keep to your photos.

An evening, for most families. Ten minutes for the calendar, twenty for the lists, and the recipes depend on how many you actually cook.

Check it worked

Before you cancel anything, open Homie and look at four things.

  • Next week. Open the week view and check the events you know are coming are there.
  • The far end. Scroll a few months out and find the last event you know is in Cozi. If you are on Gold, do this before you cancel: the free plan only reaches about 30 days ahead, and you do not want to find out what happens to next summer's events after you have dropped to it.
  • A repeating event. Open one and check the repeat is set. It should be one event that repeats, not thirty copies.
  • The right person. If you imported one link per family member, check each person's events landed on their calendar.

Then cancel properly

In this order: export, check, cancel, delete. Once the account is deleted there is nothing left to export.

Cancel Cozi Gold or Max where you bought it. A subscription bought in the iPhone app is canceled through Apple (Settings, your name, Subscriptions). One bought in the Android app is canceled through Google Play. Cozi's own FAQ says the same.

Deleting the Cozi account deletes it for everyone in the family, not only for you, so agree it with the others first. Cozi gives a two-week grace period. After that the account and everything in it is gone for good.

Keep the .ics file from the section above somewhere safe. It costs nothing and it is the only copy of three years of events that is not inside somebody's app.

What you will miss from Cozi

Being fair, because a page like this should be.

Recipe photos.

Cozi's recipe library has pictures. Homie's does not, yet.

AI email-to-calendar.

Cozi Max reads schedules out of emails and turns them into events. Homie has no AI on purpose, so that one is not coming.

The free plan with ads.

Cozi's free plan shows ads and limits how far ahead you can add events. Homie's free plan is the shared calendar for the whole family, with no ads and no 30-day limit, and the rest of the app is paid.

Nineteen years.

Cozi has been around since 2007. We are the new ones, and we know it.

Where we come into this

We are the family behind Homie, a family organizer built in Norway. One login for the whole household, no separate accounts for the kids. The shared calendar is free for everyone, forever. Premium, which adds tasks, routines, meals and notes, is $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year per family, with 30 days free to start and a full refund inside six months if it is not for you.

No ads, no AI, and nobody reading your shopping list off a screenshot. If you want the full feature-by-feature before you decide, we wrote one.

Questions people are asking

Is there an export button in the Cozi app?

No. The outbound link only exists on the website, at my.cozi.com under Settings, then Shared Cozi Calendars. The app's Internet Calendar screen does the opposite: it adds outside calendars into Cozi.

Can I export my Cozi calendar without paying for Gold?

As far as we can tell, yes. The shared-calendar link is not listed as a Gold feature anywhere on Cozi's site. If you hit an upgrade prompt, let us know and we will correct this.

Does Cozi give me a file or a link?

A link, in iCal format. Homie takes the link directly. To get a file, open the link in a browser with https:// in place of webcal:// and the browser saves an .ics file.

Can I export Cozi shopping lists, to-dos or recipes?

No. The link is calendar-only, and Cozi has no separate export for lists or recipes. You retype them. A 40-item shopping list is about four minutes in Homie's one-item-per-line box. Recipes that came from a website can be imported from that address.

Does Cozi's 30-day free limit affect the export?

On a free account there is nothing beyond about 30 days to export, because Cozi would not let you add it. On Gold there is no limit, so the link carries everything. The one thing to get right is the order: export while you are still on Gold, then cancel. Do not cancel first and export from the free plan.

Do I need a separate link for each family member?

Only if you want each person's events on their own calendar. Cozi can give you one link for everyone or one per person, and the everyone link carries no names.

Will my old events come across?

Yes. When you copy the link into Homie you pick a time range, from future-only up to everything in the link.

Do my family members need new accounts?

No. Homie is one login for the whole household. Everyone shares it and picks their name on their own device.

Can I keep using Cozi while I try Homie?

Yes. Add the Cozi link to Homie as a Linked calendar and it updates on its own. When you are ready to leave, do the one-time Copy and remove the linked one.

How do I delete my Cozi account?

From the bottom of the Settings screen in Cozi, or on Cozi's account-deletion page with your email address and the shared family password. It deletes the account for the whole family, with a two-week grace period. Export your calendar first.
