Maple is shutting down on 31 December.Here is how to export your data.

If you use Maple to run your family, you have until 31 December. After that the account closes and everything in it goes with it.
Maple’s notice is clear on the point:
“All data will be deleted and there will be no way to recover it once Maple is officially shut down.”

Why Maple is shutting down
Maple was acquired by Wander, a short-term rental company, at the end of July 2026. It was a team acquisition. The founders have joined Wander to work on a travel product, and the app is being retired.
The dates, from Maple’s notice:
- The app sunsets on 31 December 2026
- Your account and data stay fully accessible until then
- After that, the account is closed and inaccessible
- All data is deleted permanently
- Annual subscriptions will not renew. Monthly subscriptions run until 31 December
It all lands on the same day. There is no read-only period afterwards and no second window, so 31 December is the real deadline for anything you want to keep.
Maple is already gone from Google Play
Worth knowing if you are on Android, because it changes your timeline.
Maple was removed from the Google Play store on 5 August 2026. An app already installed on your phone keeps working until December. Delete it, reset the phone, or move to a new handset, and there is no way to reinstall it.
So on Android, export your data before you touch the app.
The iOS version is still listed and still installs, which is worth knowing before anyone in the house sets up something new in it.
How to export your Maple data
Maple’s notice asks everyone to “export or transfer your data to other apps or services” before the date. Four steps, in this order, and the things worth keeping will be safe.

Start with your calendar, because it is the easy part
If you connected Maple to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook, those events live in that account. They will still be there in January. Open the calendar you connected and check your family’s events are showing.
Almost all alternative family organizers let you subscribe to that same calendar, so for a lot of families the calendar part of moving to a new app takes about two minutes.
Events created only inside Maple, with no external calendar connected, are the ones that need moving.

Check Settings for an export
Open Settings and look under your account or profile for an export or download option. Take whatever it gives you, then open the file straight away and see what came across.

Save anything the export leaves behind
Whatever is not in that file will not travel with you. Recipes, meal plans, chore setups, project folders and lists are the first things to check.
If anything hasn’t exported correctly, screenshot them in Maple or copy the text into a document. It is unglamorous work, and a recipe you have cooked every week for three years is worth twenty minutes of an evening.

Give yourself until the end of November
Everything about this shutdown lands on a single date, so the last week of December is when every remaining user tries to do this at once, over Christmas, on a service nobody is maintaining any more. Aim to be finished a month early.
What happens to your Maple subscription
Annual subscriptions stop renewing. Monthly ones run to 31 December.
If you renewed annually in the second half of this year, you have paid for months you will not get to use. Maple’s notice does not cover refunds, so request a refund via your app store rather than Maple.
On iOS that is reportaproblem.apple.com. On Android it is Google Play, which is more awkward now the app has been pulled. Ask early either way. Both are more likely to help while the service is still running.
What to look for in a replacement
There is no shortage of alternative lists. These are the six things worth actually checking before you commit, based on what Maple people say they used most.
A tablet on the wall.
Maple’s Family Hub put the week on a kitchen screen. Check whether a replacement includes that or charges for it. Several sell a display mode separately, or sell you a device.
Sports schedules.
If you used the TeamSnap integration, very little else supports it. Check before you commit.
Which way the calendar sync runs.
Some apps bring your Google or Apple calendar in and send changes back out. Others bring it in one way, so edits you make stay in the new app. Both are common, and it is easier to know now than after you have rebuilt your week in the wrong place.
Whether the rest of the family will actually use it.
The one people underrate. An organizer that only one parent ever opens is the problem you already had.
Whether it will still be here in two years.

Maple gave you an email address for the household, and the Maple Assistant would summarise school mail and turn it into tasks. It is the most praised feature in their reviews, and very few products do anything like it. If it was the centre of how you used Maple, make it the first thing you test in whatever you try next.

How do I export my Maple data?
Start with Settings, under your account or profile, and take whatever export it offers. Open the file, then save anything missing from it by hand. Calendar events already synced to Google, Apple or Outlook are safe where they are.
