The Shadow
What it is
The Shadow is the version of yourself that you try to hide. It may be based on a younger, rejected version of you — someone who felt unworthy, unattractive, or unlovable. Most people carry shame about this version of themselves.
Why it matters
Ignoring the Shadow creates internal conflict and self-sabotage. Embracing it brings wholeness and self-respect. You don’t have to like your Shadow — but you must build a relationship with it.
What to do
- Visualize your Shadow clearly.
- Talk to it with respect: “I see you. I won’t leave you.”
- Integrate it into your present self.
“If you can’t love your Shadow, you can’t love yourself.”
